The Dental Hygiene degree has the finality to form a graduate in Dental Hygiene that is endowed with the scientific bases and preparation of theoretical-practice necessary, to the senses of the D.M. of the Italian Office of the Health March 15 th 1999, n. 137 and following modifications and integrations, to the exercise of the profession of Dental Hygienist. The degree is articulated in three years of study, with programmed accesses (closed number) to national level disciplined by special proclamation of amission. The Course of Studies develops its mandatory study plan by the use of different types of methods such as lessons, exercises and apprenticeships. Teaching slots are articulate in four macro-areas: human biomedical and morphological Area, Eziopathogenesis of the illnesses and principles of general medicine, the dental hygiene sciences and legal/ managerial human Sciences.
The run of formation foresees the acquisition of notions of normal anatomy, physiology and general and specialistic pathology of the stomatognatic apparatus, general microbiology and othe oral cavity, parodontology, conservative dentistry, oral pathology, oral surgery and implantology, sciences and techniques of professional and domiciliary oral Hygiene, as well as teachings of community oral healths, ergonomics, psychology, assistance to the person, ethics, professional code of ethics and competences report them, with the purpose to furnish knowledges of quality to the graduates in relief and therapeutic circle, in line with the lines it drives national and international in subject, what essential tools.
Student satisfaction and employment status:
From the analysis of the available data, taking into account the results that emerged following suggestions from the trade associations, it can be noted that the effectiveness of the Dental Hygiene course is very good both in terms of quality of teaching and for that which covers the coverage of courses with tenured teachers. The opinion of the students about the structure of the CSID is absolutely positive as can be seen from the statistics of Almalaurea and, with a view to continuous improvement, is discussed periodically with the students, through the use of questionnaires and meetings.
