Course Description

The electric power is the key factor for sustainable development. The challenges of energy and decarbonization of production processes, as well as transport electrification, put the electrical systems and digital control systems at the base of any solution to overcome the polluting technologies based on combustion.

Through lectures, seminars, technical visits and internships in collaboration with the best productive realities and research in the sector, at the University of Trieste we learn how electrical systems and digital control systems allow the increasing use of renewable sources, converting them into electric power. The continuous and safe availability of electricity is obtained thanks to the innovation of electricity infrastructures, which must be designed (electrical energy engineering) and managed (control system engineering) in an efficient, eco-compatible and event-resilient manner caused by climate change. A more efficient use of energy and the improvement of process performance is based on electric and automatic technologies, without which we could not speak of robotics, mechatronics, industry 4.0, smart cities, electric mobility.
