Obiettivi formativi 

The course aims to encourage the development of constructive criticism
on mathematical knowledge, by promoting a reflection on the ability to
distinguish between fundamental and ancillary notions, in order to insert
them into an educational path which is suitable for secondary school
students

Prerequisiti 

Notions of algebra, geometry and mathematical analysis of courses of the
first two years of mathematics or equivalent courses

Contenuti 

Notions of the history of education. Notions of the history of the teaching
of mathematics. The teaching of mathematics in its historical
development. Basic issues in mathematics education. Geometry and
foundations of geometry. Mathematics as a calculation. Mathematics as a
conceptual understanding and problem solving. Trends in current
mathematics education (embodied mathematics, semiotic mediation).
Tools and technologies in mathematics education.

Metodi didattici 

Frontal lectures with teacher-student dialogue, in-depth studies and
group exercises (participatory planning also with the use of digital
technologies)

Modalità di verifica dell'apprendimento 

Oral exam. The knowledge of the topics treated in the course and the
ability to link them together, as well as the active participation in the
lectures, will be assessed

Altre informazioni 

Lecture materials will be available on the Moodle platform of the
University of Trieste. These materials must be integrated with the study
of the texts indicated by the teacher (with appropriate references to indepth
materials).
